Jeffrey Blount will visit to discuss his latest novel, The Emancipation of Evan Walls.

In the book, 10-year-old Evan makes a startling declaration during a summer porch gathering in 1968. From that moment on, the central question of his life is born: Is he black enough? As an adult, Evan finds himself walking the slippery slope between blacks and whites, and only his wife, Izzy, can help him cope with what he learns from his traumatic life story.

Blount retired from NBC News in February 2017. During a 34-year career, he won an Emmy and directed a decade of Meet the Press, The Today Show, NBC Nightly News, The Chris Matthews Show and major special events.
